# Creating payments in the web portal

| This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to create a charge for a client.

> **Important:** Handy doesn't allow you to register a payment that's greater than the client's outstanding balance. This helps reduce mistakes regarding credit balances in favor of the client. 

There are two ways to create a charge for a client in Handy: in the App or through the Web portal. This article will go over the process using the web portal.

# Web portal

Go to the Main menu and click on *Reports and goals*, then select *Payment report*:

There, you'll find the option to${color}[#044386]( + Create)

This will open a screen where you'll search for the client's name, which will then show you the client's current balance.

Below that, you'll select the payment method, the amount to pay, and any additional comments or reference:

Once you've added all information, save the charge so it can be applied to the client's profile.
