# Allowed and default payment types

| The settings Allowed payment type and Default payment type apply both for sales orders and for deliveries.

When editing a client's details, you'll be able to define:
* The payment types allowed for that client
* The payment type that the system will automatically default to when creating an order or completing a delivery

In the client editing screen, you'll find these choices:

## How does it work?
When completing a **sale** or a **delivery**, the payment type selection feature will show only the options you've chosen for this client. 

Also:
* If the client has a default payment type specified, it will be selected automatically
* The user won't be able to choose a payment type that is not allowed for the client



### Example

If a client only has **Cash** as their allowed payment type: 
* When completing a sale or a delivery, the payment type selector will ONLY show **cash** as an option
* This payment type will be selected automatically, as it's the only option

This helps maintain consistency in your operation, as well as avoid mistakes when completing orders and deliveries.
